The Spot device allows me to automatically upload my position using satellite technology every 10 minutes. Spot offers the ability to see these positions on an online map...so anyone who's bored enough can just click on the link below and see where we have been and where we are.
The Spot also allows me to send a canned text/email message (like "I'm OK" or "Stopping for the day...all's well") which is helpful in areas with no cell coverage (and believe me, we'll be in lot's of places with zero cell phone coverage) and also to send out an S.O.S. message which the Spot Message Center will receive and will then scramble emergency help using my satellite position. Very Jetsons.
